METAL FABRICATOR/SUPERVISOR

Misc. Requirements: Fixturing, fabrication, and assembly; basic machining and sheet metal capabilities. Supervising metal fabrication/prototyping facility and approximately 4-6 employees.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties include working with and supervising our metal fabrication and armor production team and a range of welding and fabrication processes and related functions within a job-shop type facility in support of production and research and development projects. Candidate will be required to perform multiple welding processes including TIG, MIG, and stick welding. Materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless, aluminium, and armor. Candidate will be required to perform all welding related activities including drawing and requirements interpretation, planning, fixturing, preparation, pre- and post-welding processes, and assembly. Candidate must be a team player capable of working directly with designers and other tradesmen such as machinists, sheet metal fabricators, and painters. Ability to do basic machining for fixturing and weld preparation is required. Ancillary skills in machining and sheet metal are desirable. Candidate must be capable of working from basic concepts, instructions, and sample assemblies as well as formal drawings.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS
At least 10 years of experience performing MIG and TIG welding of all metals.
Certification or ability to readily obtain certification in those processes.

  • Ability to perform all weld preparation and pre-weld and post-weld processes
  • Ability to design, construct, and implement weld fixturing, including basic machining capabilities
  • Ability to operate a press brake
  • Assembly and fabrication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and tolerances
  • Ability to perform basic design, measuring, and fabrication based on customer concepts
  • Ability to perform sheet metal fabrication or machining, including water jet machining
